The Sendai 89ERS is a member of the B2 of the B-League (Japan Professional Basketball League).

In the 2016-2017 season when the B-League started, the team was in B1, but the team faltered, losing two double-digit games in a row in the regular season, and was relegated to B2 after one year. Since then, the team has not been promoted to B1.

Although they have not won any titles, they have made it to the final eight of the 2017 All Japan Basketball Championship (Emperor's Cup).

The Sendai 89ers' average attendance per game for the 2018-2019 season (B2) is 2,567, which ranks first in the league (18 teams).
