Sapporo Dome Stadium Tours

Sapporo Dome is the home stadium of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters (NPB: Nippon Professional Baseball) and Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo (J-League: Professional Soccer). Sapporo Dome offers Stadium tours on no-game or event days. The stadium tour's content is similar to the general stadium tour like MLB stadiums, which walks through the field, dugout, bullpen, press box, and premium seats, etc. So this time, we participated in the "Hovering Tours," a tour about installing a soccer field into the stadium from outside. You don't have to book or buy tickets in advance for both tours.

Hovering Technology
At Sapporo Dome, baseball and soccer teams share the stadium, so during a soccer game, the stadium must be converted from a baseball field to a soccer field. It uses a technology called "Hovering Technology," which is rare among stadiums in the world, to lift a natural grass soccer field several centimeters by air pressure and slide it into the stadium.

Check-in at the General Information Center located at North Gate 3.
    * Regular stadium tours also check-in at the same location.

3. The Hovering Tour starts!

First, watch a video about converting from a baseball field to a soccer field. This converting work takes about half a day, so it is not a tour to see the actual work on the field.

4. Soccer Field

After watching the video, getting to the outside retractable soccer field.

5. A trip down to the field

You can step into the soccer field. The soccer field is usually kept outdoors to grow high-quality natural grass in sunlight. You will be given time to take a picture and walk in a designated area on the field.

6. Inside the Dome

At the end of the tour, you enter the stadium and enjoy the view from the top of the outfield bleachers. "Hovering Tour" does not allow you to go lower level.

7. Observatory

After the tour, you can go to the observatory on the dome roof by yourself. The observatory displays memorabilia related to Sapporo Dome, such as jerseys and balls, and you can experience the view of the field from the ceiling. You can also enjoy a panoramic view of Sapporo city. There is also an option to go only to the observatory without participating in the stadium tour (520 yen).

We hope that visiting the Sapporo Dome will be the most enjoyable time for you!
