"Getting There & Around" Miyazaki Area

Miyazaki is generally accessible by air from the mainland.
Airplanes fly to Miyazaki Airport from Tokyo (Haneda, Narita), Nagoya, Osaka, Okinawa, and Fukuoka.
Miyazaki Airport is located in the suburbs of Miyazaki City, about 8 kilometers from the city, so it is easily accessible to the city. There is a Miyazaki Airport Station at the airport, and you can take the train from the city to Nobeoka and Oita. Buses also go to various tourist areas, making it easy to use.

Train (from the airport to Miyazaki Station)

There are two or three trains an hour, depending on the time of day.
There is no express fare from Miyazaki Airport to Miyazaki Station, even if you take the express.
Therefore, you can take any train that stops at the airport for a regular fare.
It will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes from the airport to Miyazaki Station.

Miyazaki Airport Station

Bus (from the airport to Miyazaki Station)

The first bus stop after exiting the airport is for Miyazaki Station. There are two or three buses an hour, depending on the time of day.

Fare: Adults 450 yen

Car Rental

Car rentals should be booked in advance. There is little advantage in renting a car after arriving at the airport on the day of the trip, in terms of price. That's why there are websites that allow you to book in advance and get a discount. If you plan to rent a car, be sure to make a reservation in advance.

Taxi

A Taxi to Miyazaki Station will cost around 3,000 yen each way.
As soon as you exit the airport, you will find a Taxi stand with Taxi waiting for you.

Train

JR Miyazaki Station
There is no Shinkansen bullet train service at JR Miyazaki Station.
Limited express trains connect various parts of the city, and for the Kagoshima area, it takes about 2 hours and 10 minutes from Miyazaki Station to Kagoshima Chuo Station on the limited express Kirishi.
If you want to go from Nobeoka to Oita, you can use the limited express Nichirin.
It will take about one hour from Miyazaki Station to Nobeoka Station, and about three hours from Miyazaki Station to Oita Station.

If you want to go to a camp site, you can also use Miyazaki Station as a base and go there by train.
Aburatsu Station for the Hiroshima Carp in Nichinan City is about 1 hour and 30 minutes away, and Nango Station for the Seibu Lions is about 1 hour and 45 minutes away.
Please pay attention to the number of trains as there are not that many.

Getting around Miyazaki City

You can get around the city by city bus or train.
If you want to go around for a short distance, you can rent a bicycle or take a ride called "Guruppi".

Guruppi

The downtown area of Miyazaki Station is Tachibana-dori, which is a short distance from the station.
It's a bit far from the station, about a 15-minute walk.
Since it is a bit far, it is convenient to use the "Guruppi" bus.
It only takes a little over five minutes from Miyazaki Station to the Tachibana Dori area, and the bus runs every 12 minutes.
The fare is 100 yen per ride (children under elementary school age ride for free), so I appreciate the reasonable price. You can pay by using an IC card or cash.
(The bus circulates from the station to the Tachibana-dori area. Please check the details for the route.
