"What/Where to Eat" in Okayama

In Okayama, you can enjoy a wide variety of dining options, including long-established restaurants that pass on traditional flavors and restaurants that are known for their new Okayama cuisine.

Okonomiyaki Mori

Directions: From the west exit of JR Okayama Station, walk along the wide street between the ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel Okayama and the bus center to get to the location. The yellow tent and red lanterns are the landmarks of the "Bride Over 8 Years" location.
Comment: I had a chance to try "kakioko," an okonomiyaki made with oysters from the Seto Inland Sea. The photo at the top of this page shows "Kakioko".
It's located between Okayama Station and City Light Stadium, so it might be just the place for you to grab a bite to eat before the game.
This place was the location for the movie "Bride Over 8 Years: A Miracle True Story" that was released in 2017.

Ajitsukasa Nomura

Directions: From the east exit of JR Okayama Station, walk along the streetcar tracks to Nishikawa Ryokudo Koen Station, and take the first right-hand turn. It is about a 10-minute walk from Okayama Station.
Comment:It was established in 1931. Just by looking at the front of the restaurant, I was a bit nervous to enter, thinking, "Wow, this place looks expensive..."
The loin demi cutlet rice bowl was delicious.

Ramen Yamafuji Hon Machi

Address: 5-13 Honmachi, Kita-ku, Okayama City, Okayama 700-0901, Japan
Hours: 11:30am - 2:00pm (Closed on Wednesdays)
Directions: From the east exit of JR Okayama Station, walk along the streetcar tracks and you will see the bus stop "Okayama Ekimae". Turn right at the next corner, which is the corner of the second intersection. It is about a five-minute walk from Okayama Station.
Comment: When we went there during lunch time, it was crowded. It has the atmosphere of an old-fashioned diner.

Steak House Kibi (Steak no Mise Kibi)

Hours: 11:00-22:00
Directions:Second floor of the south building of "Sunste Okayama" in JR Okayama Station.
Comment:Tempted by the new Okayama gourmet "Bokke Ume", I tried the Beef Hormone Claypot Curry Set Meal, which is said to be a famous B-grade gourmet hormone dish.

Comment: This is a long-established shop that was established in 1946.
To relieve the fatigue of our feet, we had "Matcha with Dumplings". It was a luxurious moment while looking at Okayama Castle over the pond in the stream.
