Miyazaki Prefecture is currently home to Tegevajaro Miyazaki of the J-League. Other than this, many professional sports teams hold their camps in Miyazaki in early spring. The Phoenix League of professional baseball is also held here.

The team joined the J-League in 2021. With the birth of the team in Miyazaki, all six prefectures in Kyushu now have a J club.
