Shibusawa Eiichi Memorial Museum (Fukaya City)

Eiichi Shibusawa is known as the father of the Japanese economy because of his achievements, including the establishment of Japan's first bank.
Since he was born in Fukaya City, there are many tourist spots in Fukaya City related to Shibusawa Eiichi, such as his memorial hall and his birthplace.

Getting to the Museum

The Shibusawa Eiichi Memorial Museum in the city is located on the Gunma side of Fukaya City.
It is a combined facility with Yatsumoto Community Center.
In Fukaya, Fukaya Station is the center of the city. The city hall is about a 10-minute walk from the station, and the shopping district is also near the station.
The area of Yatsumoto, where the Shibusawa Eiichi Memorial Museum is located, is one of the most agriculturally active areas in the city. The surrounding area has many fields.
It is about 6 km away from the station, and public transportation, Kururin (community bus) runs from the station, but the number of buses is limited, so please be careful.

About the Museum

The museum is free of charge.
As of 2021, Shibusawa Eiichi Memorial Museum's archives and Shibusawa Eiichi Androids require advance reservations, so please make a reservation before visiting.

Reservation (Japanese)

Photography and other forms of filming are not allowed in the Reference Room.
The androids will have a time after the "lecture" when you can take pictures.
Please follow the instructions of the attendants as they will explain in advance.

There is a place outside the library where you can watch videos related to Eiichi Shibusawa.

The bronze statue of Shibusawa Eiichi is located behind the community center. Behind the community center is a park called Seien Park.
